Stuart Kirtland
After working more than the average 9 to 5 for 32 years, I retired to enjoy my hobby of seeking and acquiring Victorian watercolours. In a short while that soon became more than 9 to 5 again. So, I took the decision to take my 30 years of experience in sourcing and displaying art, to a wider audience.
Kirtland Art – 19th & 20th Century Art was born.
Sourcing and acquiring artwork from a variety of auctions, fairs and dealers around the UK, has enabled me to concentrate on a very specific period. Now largely 1850 to 1950, which I believe to be the halcyon days of watercolour production. However, I quickly learned that’s not to everyone’s taste and so my focus has broadened to encapsulate oils and contemporary art.
Not always focusing on mainstream or known artists, allows me the breadth to appreciate the image beyond a name and hunt down pictures that exude quality and appeal rather than just name status. That aside, there are some great known artists in the current collection which ensures the appeal to both purist and browser alike.
Always changing, I hope you enjoy this selection of pictures.
